What Did I Read in 2010?

Just a few books!

636 Picture Books
344 Easy (Beginning) Readers (K-1st Grade Reading Level)
64 Comics/Graphic Novels
60 Young Adult/Teen Novels
60 Juvenile Fiction Novels (4th-6th Grade Reading Level)
82 Intermediate Chapter Books (1st-3rd Grade Reading Level)
326 Juvenile Non-Fiction
52 Newbery Award Winners or Honors
143 Caldecott Award Winners or Honors
7 Grown-Up Books

For a total of: 1774 Books

Goals I accomplished last year:
Finished reading all Caldecott honors and winners. There was only one I was unable to find: Sing in Praise - A Collection of the Best Loved Hymns (Opal Wheeler and Marjorie Torrey). 1947 honor book. Couldn't find it at Provo, Orem or BYU libraries. Tried inter-library loan, but only one library had it and they would only loan it with a $50 deposit!
I also began my Newbery journey, reading one per week. This year I have upped it to two per week. I originally was going to read them in order starting with the earliest, but that quickly got boring. So I am reading them in no particular order. I would not be able to accomplish this without my MP3 player and working one graveyard shift a week at my other job. Some of these books are just not my cup of tea and I would find it a struggle to sit down with the actual book and read through it. Thank goodness for audio! (And those of you who know we well probably thought you would never hear me say that!)

New goals for this year:
Make a huge dent in the Newbery list by reading two a week!
Read 2000 books in the entire year. I know I can do it, I was close this year. Though there are a couple of huge things happening this year that might hinder this goal's progress.
Be a better more regular blogger. I read so many that I want to blog, it just doesn't always happen.
Oh yeah, and read more "grown-up" books! (Yeah right!)
